Turkish gypsies; Living in the shadow of social discrimination
Gypsy people, who have been wandering and nomadic in the Middle East and Europe for centuries, although they have a large population in Turkey, they live in poor neighborhoods and shacks on the outskirts of cities and are considered one of the most deprived minorities in Turkey. Mehdi Shabani visited several gypsy families in Istanbul and talked with Almas Arous, head of the “Anti-Discrimination” Association of Turkey, who is also a gypsy.
