The roots of secularism in Türkiye

Turkey is often recognized as the most important example of a country with a predominantly Muslim population and a secular political system. But where are the roots of this system, which is about a century old, and how has Turkey’s experience with secularism been in this century. These questions were discussed by Mehdi Shabani in a conversation with Ayşe Hür, a well-known Turkish historian.
